FRP Strengthening

The Problem

Marginal negative moment steel development at a beam slab connection caused cracking along the beam length. The structural slab system was the roof structure of a room located below grade.

The Solution

Epoxy injection of the cracking and installation of wet lay-up carbon fiber composite (CFRP) strips provided additional negative moment capacity.
