The Problem
The historical society of Blackhawk Colorado has required the owner of
the structure to incorporate the two remaining walls in any new re-development of
the property.
The Solution
Heavy duty steel frames were erected as shoring for the large sandstone block building.
Micro-piles were utilized as the foundation system for the steel frames. The project
site was extremely tight, adding increased complexity to the frame construction.
Two walls, the roof and floor structure was removed. The steel frame shoring carried
both tensile and compressive forces and has been monitored for movement since completion
in 2003.
